Screw-retained / Cement-retained Crown
Screw - Retained Crown
A screw - retained crown is a type of dental implant restoration where the crown is attached to the implant using a screw. This screw typically passes through the occlusal surface of the crown and into the implant fixture. The screw - retained design allows for easy removal of the crown in case of any issues such as implant maintenance, prosthetic adjustments, or replacement.
Cement - Retained Crown
A cement - retained crown, on the other hand, is fixed to the implant with dental cement. After the implant has osseointegrated (fused with the jawbone), a custom - made abutment is attached to the implant. The crown is then cemented onto the abutment. The choice of cement used is carefully considered, as it needs to provide a strong bond while also being biocompatible with the oral tissues.
